A few days ago, I was able to see how to improve some things that have always bugged me about this painting. so, I stripped off the varnish and worked over the entire painting until I was happy with it. The peak on the horizon is Camp Creek Bald 29 miles away.  The reflecting road is Interstate 26 with a rare overlook, 21 miles N of Asheville, providing a great view back to the Craggy Mountains.  The large valley on the left contains Mars Hill, 13 miles away.  My photos were used as reference to locate each mountain as accurately as I can.
